I sell both, the Eclipse at your pricing is a steal. It is a solid amp. Want to spend the $ the Zapco commands, then look at the big Eclipse XA4000.

Full range class D amp topology is here today. Eclipse has had it in their line for awhile now, same with Xtant. After it had proven itself, the licenses paid for etc, Alpine PDX amps came out and Pioneer Premiere amps came out. IT works, it works amazingly great, it sounds even better. Next year there will be far more amps on the market that embrace the new circuit topology.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

So no, a class D or "digital" if you wish to call it is not best suited for components unless it is a special application class D incorporating corrective circuitry..I have not seen too many of those so I would imagine they are rare or expensive.

The eclipse XA line are all class D ICEpower amps. just like the alpine pdx series. These are actually slowly proving to be much better than your typical class a/b multi channel amp. The EA line however are still class A/B. either way you go, eclipse is always a great choice.

Cool, thats good to know since I plan on taking a new job at a high end shop again, the place I was at last is mid level and didn't really have the new technologies or high end lines. Are these amps considerably more expensive? Sounds to me like a good thing however, can't wait to try a few.

all of these prices are taken from the cardomain website. since they are an online authorized dealer, their prices will be a lot closer to what a local retailer will sell them for than what ebay will have.

EA4000 $299 (onsale right now for $199) 75RMS X 4

XA4000 $450   125RMS X 4

yes, very clean. from what I hear, there were 2 world champs this year using the full range clas D ICEpower amps. Here is a link to a review and bench test of the XA2000 done by CA&E mag.

I know..it's just amazing how new technologies come out or change and some ideas you always knew about are obsolete. This site keeps me updated especially since i hardly have time to read any industry publications anymore due to being online alot or installing.

thanks again
