I just finished the cavalier and i hooked up a relay to bypass the passlock,i was wondering if anyone see's any problem with this relay set-up.
term 85.-ground
term 86.-starter wire
term 87a.to yellow passlock wire bcm side
term 87.-to bulb test wire
term 30.-to black reference passlock wire
I'm just worried that if the relay fails they won't be able to start the car.

Getting a by-pass unit is the best way to go because there is  a hall effect switch, magnet and your r-value inside the ignition tumbler. The r-value being your resistance value.

Why not use the relay? I haven't ever done this but if it works a relay is only $.99 the 555L is about $13.00

The guy that taught me always used relays and resistors, and he still does. We never had any problems with them. Now that I am doing them on my own, I use modules, they save time over building a relay, and are a lot easier. Either way works though.
