I am assuming when making the connection in a car alarm installation u must cut the wire free from the harness that u wish to splice into, then buutt splice?

Is butt splices the preferred method of making connections amongst installers?

I never use butt splices, I always strip a piece on insulation off the wire in the car, then divide the strands and poke the alarms wire through then wrap it around the wire. I also solder the connection before taping, if you dont have a soldering iron you can just wrap the wire around tight then tape and put a wire tie around it.

no you strip back some insulation wrap the new wire on the exposed factory wire solder tape or heat shrink. never cut unless supposed to.

2005 4 door ford ranger

I,ve been thinking about mounting the siren for the alarm in my dash. Is this is a decent spot? I know most of my friends install in front engine block or by radiator, but i wanted to ensure my siren cannot be ripped out or the wire cut. Any feedback appreciated.

thnx

It's up to you but it will be a lot quieter inside. I would say put it under the hood. Find a spot that is hard to get at like under the battery or something, then route the wire where it is hard to get at. If you are worried about cutting the siren wires add a battery backup siren, or if you want a siren inside as well, add a piezo siren. They are very loud and very small.

Ok, i have decided to not install the remote start at this time as it is not  important to me, but rather the security of my vehical.

My first question is , since i've decided to use the smart trigger feature, which will splice into the dome supervision circuit, is it necessary to use the driver and passenger pin switches? I am thinking no.

Must i use diode isolation for parking light connections, or doors connections?

Does anyone know if my 2005 ford stx ranger has a 3 wire positive or negative door locking system, or should i just figure out myself with dmm?

Does my alarm have to be connected directly to the battery post, or could I use the terminal right before the fuse box to save room, since im gonna have a fat wire for my amp?

Im installing a crimeguard 745i4

I really appreciate all the positive feedback i've been receiving from this site, and hope to contribute myself in the future.

thnx guyz
