Ive got a guy want a remote starter put on his 97 expedition (sp). He doesnt care what I use as long as he has remote start. Im almost thing about using a add on system that uses the factory remote. Would this be just as good as a DEI system? If this type of system works good what brand do you recommend?

I would just go with a complete syste. On this truck the factory keyless will not work while the truck is running unless you interupt the ign at the keyless entry unit while its running. You also just dont get alot of rangfe from factory key fobs. If your wanting something cheap I believe circuit sells the 561r for like $79. They only come with 1 remote but will do keyless and start and very reliable.

That would probably be the easiest thing to do. I can get the 561r for like $50, never pay retail IMO.
