Have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am that I put a starter in and after the car is turned off the radio will stay on.
Used an Ultra Start, anyone have this problem??
I could fix it by running another accessory for the radio but wondering if there is something else causing it???
Thanks!

is it staying on after you remove the key, or is it staying on after being shut down by the remote starter?

RAP (Retained accessory power) needs to be shut off when the remote start turns off. Opening a door will shut the radio off, so pulse the door trigger at shutdown and the radio will turn off.

I wouldn't worry about it; it'll time out after a little while.

if its the RAP, it shouldn't be staying on all night. They are timed to shut off between like 10 and 15 mintutes or something. I normally dont worry about disabling the RAP, but in your case, you might want to pulse the door pin wire. Again, DOES THE RADIO STAY ON AFTER YOU SHUTDOWNT THE CAR WITH THE RS OR THE KEY???? If its the RS, do the doorpin hookup and program for pulse after shutdown. If its staying on after the car is shut off with the key, you have other issues......

I was told that it's staying on after the person gets out of the car.
So they remote start, get in with key and later get out and turn off with key and the radio is staying on.
So to turn off are you saying pulse with remote start? or with factory keyless entry remote?

i've seen this once before also. It didn't have anything to do with the remote starter in my case. For some reason, the radio was not recognizing that the key was been turned to the off position. They key had to be munipulated in the cylinder or jiggled when turned to the off position to get the radio to recogize that the key was off and the door was being opened. I had noticed this before installing the RS, so I brought it to the customers attention before working on it....that payed off as the customer had no idea and I would have likely been pinned with the blame after the install....you know how that goes. Its not an aftermarket radio is it?

Twelvoltz & green6767 are right..........Pulse the Door Trigger on Shutdown
If it is staying on beyond the 12 Minute Cycle, then the RAPS has a problem, the Vehicle has a problem, or worse case, the Remote Start Install is Powering up a wire
