whats up guy's i am wondering about something . i want to put 8- 12" subs in my 2000 z71 tahoe and i was wondering to either get new pioneer premier champion dvc4 subs or the kicker cvr dvc4, which do you think is a better quality of sub?  I am planning on running two punch 1500 -2ohm stable amps on them -  and how should i make the box    ported or what ?  help me decide give me some idea's . i recently did 8-10" ma audio dvc4 subs in a ported box with every two subs sharing a chamber and i was very notorious with just one of the punch amps so i have to step it up a notch i just dont wanna keep building boxes for the 12s cause i know its gonna be hugh but i wanna do it right the first time or two..  i plan on doing some spl competition this summer   help me decide !!!!

These kind of post questions are pretty much based on opinion, which like experience...can differ greatly. But in my opinion......

I would use the kickers, ported, every 2 subs sharing a chamber...if it's spl your after that should pretty much do it..

depends on how much space you want to give the subs for a box.
I'm guessing both of your amps are 500 watts rms at 2 ohms...that 1500 watt is a peak rating and means nothing

Why not just go with 2 subs and a decent amount of power. Bigger is not always better.
Most local shows I go to I could walk al over everyone with a pair of 10 inch l7's
I would step back and decide what your going for
The shock and awe of 8 subs
The loudness you need for comps
or the street ablilty to pound like mad!
Once you decide on that it would help alot with some suggestions from me!

yes---I agree with that

I would go with half that number of subs

proper size and tuned ported enclosure

and still use the 2 amps

keep in mind that generally you will gain about 3 db for each sub added- but

that is considering all things are the same including the amp power.

I have experience with the premier subs but I assume the kickers very similar

you wont properly power more than 2 of those subs off 1 of those amps

for your app.

Sometimes less is more....and sometimes more is more..there are several factors to consider.

...either use DVC2's or switch to 1ohm stable amps if you want to use 8 subs and get the most out of it...or cut the amount of subs in half as suggested above but double your power....tough call-six of one...half dozen of another.(or in this case 8...jk) But in reality 4 subs will be an easier build and fit..and should be plenty if done right..as can 2 subs as well

Then again there is the visual wow factor to boatloads of subs...personally...I use 1- 10'' in a ported enclosure and am plenty happy.....once again..opinion...but if I was going for SPL competition...I can't see how more of anything can hurt IF done correctly.

actually theory is doubling woofer area yields an increase of 3dbs.
and doubling power yields an increase of 3dbs.
if adding one driver everytime increased spl by 3 decibles than i would be able to hold the world record and it would be way higher than 180.3 decibles

yes

I was just hinting that you cant expect a 3db gain

if you cut your amp power in half
