just wondering if anyone has a comment about this line of drivers. im looking to upgrade my front stage, and from what i have heard, these are some pretty good sounding drivers.
most of my concern comes from the description from madisound.com about these drivers. it says "... fantastic bass down to the mid 50's in a vented enclosure."
see, im going to be putting these drivers in the door so i really need a driver that performs well in an infinite baffle, as im not sure how to make a fiberglass door pod to put it in a ported enclosure (although that would be fun to try!)
i could actually use anything between 5.25 and 7 inches in the door, depending on how i want to mount them (bottom or top mounting)
so what do you guys think? im kinda stuck on the scan speak drivers, so if there is another model you think would work better, please let me know!

Amazing woofers! They are the speakers that alpine uses in it's F#1 status system, only thing different is it's cosmetics and their crossover system.
I was going to get a pair until i found my Adire Extremis woofers which seem to be around the same quality.

Agreed.  Scan Speak is an outstanding brand.  You don't "need" to put them in an enclosure.  Door mounting will work.

really, the f#1? doesnt that go for like $1500? i see alpine uses ring radiator tweet, would that be the R2904/7000-00? very interesting...
so if i go with 7" woofers in the doors, where should i set the crossovers to for both the tweet and the woofer?

Depends on which tweeter you use.

Those are nice, but why not use one designed for autosound, like THIS one?  Cross at 2500-3000Hz @ 18 db/oct or greater.

wow, a LOT cheaper and, its a silk dome too! thanks DYohn. while we're on the subject, do you have any good references for getting new crossovers that will cross @ 18 db/oct?

18db/oct is just a 3rd order crossover.  A 2nd order (12db/octave) would work too.  You will have to design and build one rather than buy one off the shelf...

Yes, the revelator ring radiator tweeter is also what was used in the F#1 setup, the 3 way system retailed for $5000 MRSP in Canada.
I saw some F#1 status crossovers on e-bay if you want to build a F#1 status replica.
