like i said i still work there and they are makeing a lot of changes in the way that they do buisness ,no they are not taking away the free install, so im gona hope for the best and hopefully they will pull out quickly so i dont have to look for another job in this economy

I hope they can stick it out for the good of the electronics market.

I don't think I will ever be able to embrace WalMart as a worthwhile electronics retailer.  Without Circuit City that pretty much leaves Best Buy in my area.

The Roadshop(or formerly roadshop) is such a small part of the day to day operations of the company that they've pretty much forgotten that there is an install bay at the back of almost every store.  You're right, the reason for the financial troubles is wiz-poor management from the top down.  And Circuit City's mobile department has done nothing but flounder since they decided that there wasn't a need for product specialists that focus only on mobile electronics.  The kids that they have selling in most of the locations have absolutely no experience selling car electronics, they just float back there from cameras or video games, or whatever.  

So the roadshop at Circuit has been in dire straits for a few years now, trouble getting the right product, trouble getting the right people(no self respecting salesman will work for $8.50/hr).  But the point is that even if the roadshop was still a huge profit monster the way it was 4-5 years ago, the company as a whole is in trouble because the problems are being played out in every side of the business.  Mobile electronics only accounts for about 5-8% of the revenue, which I guess is the main reason they shifted the focus away from getting well trained installers and sales people.   That sort of stuff costs $$. 

I don't see it turning around, unless they close the majority of their stores and focus on a smaller section of the country and rehire and train people who know how to provide customer service and care to do it.  Wal-mart already has the lock on the "grab n go" electronics.  I expect someone at Circuit city to know more than me about most products; which right now, in many instances, is not the case.  Circuit City cannot survive modeling it's business after anyone, Best Buy, Walmart, etc.  That was the point where the company started it's nosedive, when they decided to try to be a Best Buy clone.
