well 10's have a punchier sound to it as for the 12's have that certain low end sound to it. since you are listening to rap and such i would go with the 2 12's with a ported box. if you like you could go with a 15 in a sealed box too that would still produce bass and you would still have your sq in there too. just play around with stuff at the store where your buying them at (if your even buying them from a store)

i've been told banpass is basically for show and has no sound value. Personally I would go with 2 twelves over one fifteen any day. I would probably go with the l5 if I were you. Do you have any other options or does it have to be one of these pairs.

In my opinion the l5's would be louder. And bandpass boxes suck to me. I'd rather have a sealed or ported box. On a bandpass box there are plenty of chances of air leaking.

If your talking two 15's they'll be louder and deeper but a little bit looser. But to 12's are louder and tighter than 1 fifteen as long as long as your talking comparable speakers.

Don't go bandpss unless the box is Specifically built for the Specific sub.  You can't just go out and buy a band pass box, and throw in a sub, , ,thats how you get explosions.

I know for shure alpine dosn't make the Type-R in a bandpas box, so im guessing your not looking at specifically built box's.

I can pretty much guarantee your system will sound like ass if you go with a generic box.    Go ported or sealed.

I have played with 2 Type-R 12's in ported enclosures tuned to 25hz and they were just obnoxiously loud with 150 w rms each.

I have 3 R 12's, in 1.25 qubes sealed each, running 1500wrms total,   i have one of the cheepest set ups in town, and i got 2nd at the last spl comp, 1st was 8 planet audios with 20 000 watts.  beat me by 6 db

And to thoroughly confuse the issure even more, 1 Eclipse aluminum 12 in a 1.25 cu.ft sealed enclosure, 2 if you can afford them. 1 is usually more than enough to embarass what is listed above. Pretty sure that bberman1 will agree.
