alright, well i went up to the store for audio stuff around here.....(audio zone)....they said that my eclipse speakers were no good now and nuthing could be done cept send back to factory. well i figure why not go for a newer better system....the 9500 MTX. i will be gettin2 of these on a 1501D (supposedly maxing them out at a safe limit) he quoted me the install (wires, ??gauges??..dont know what for...and all the other things) for 2500....seems a little steep to me. he said 500 a sub and whatever the amp would be.....so i would think at MAX 2 grand? am i  correct and try to bargain him?

You blew Eclipse's?  Which ones and how'd you blow them?

$2500 for new gear and a full install (with new enclosures?) sounds about right to me.

ne enclosure, meaning just the box no fiberglass......it was the eclipse 8712DVC's...2 of them on a kicker 400/2 supposedly the surround is known to peel away from the cone.

Let's see here, you blew subs (not the subs fault btw) and now it's time for an upgrade. I sold those 8700 series subs and never had one surround come apart from the cone. This to me sounds like clipping or cone overexcursion due to excessive gain. I would get some more info before I made a choice. Does Audio Zone sell Eclipse or not? and what kind of info did they give you on why this happened?

no the dealer that sold them got bought out by ultimate audio (the place WAS called audio country) so i went there and they said "no we dont carry them anymore" so i go to audiozone and they say "theres no way to fix it and its common on the eclipse line". over excusion isnt the case as it wasnt even at RMS for the subs. so that cant be it. and if i offended u cuz u owned an eclipse...wooops....i need info on them image dynamics, the subs dont look special but they say the quality is far superior to any thing out there. sq and spl just sq or what

Just because you are nowhere near the rms of the sub does not mean that over excursion cannot be the problem. Back up the bus a minute, yes I am a Eclipse dealer so I got my panties in a knot, but still I'm here to help you solve a problem. Back to the problem now. It is not a common problem at all, unless you are clipping all over the map, this means an uncontrolled motion of the driver (overexcursion). If your amp is too small or has the gain set improperly and the output clips, any speaker will get damaged, in this case the Eclipse voice coils held up fine by the sounds of it which is usually the weakest link. So it went to the next weakest link, in this case the glue that hold the cone to the surround. Make no misake about it, if the cone is separating from the surround, it is either a desgin flaw that would be apparent throughout the entire production run, thus I would have had the same problem, or the sub was being asked to do something it was not designed to do. My bet is on the latter. This is suspect because of the amp that you are using is way too small for those subs to operate anywhere near their full potential. If the amp is too small and you want more bass, this usually leads to improper gain setting and all of the associated problems with subs that come from clipping. No sub is immune to this. Do not blame the sub, it was only doing what it was asked to do, blame the improper matching of equipment unfortunately.
