I have a capasitor and I'm wondering how to hook it up and what it actually does?

Connect the cap as shown in the diagram above.  Play your system for a few days and notice how much it helps.  Then check out my picture again, then see if you can figure it out.

That is great. I am about to hook mine up with the first recommended method. I have mine with 4G and a fuse link 100A abt 6" from the battery, grounded with 4G and my amps poweRED / grounded to the cap. 4G also. It drains my battery every cpl days if I don't use the vehicle.

well if caps dont work then why did my lights stop dimming when i added it. I mean if it didnt work wouldnt my lights still dim? "I am an idiot"... answer me. And i want a logical answer. not a picture. Theres no jokes in this question just curiousity.
