Correct, some vehicles will not start if you do not connect the keysense wire.

That is the wire that switches state when the key is inserted into the ignition cylinder, from either power to ground or vice-versa, it is normally required when bypasses are being installed!

Or to shut down the factory alarm when using a remote start, often not required on Euro Vehicles, unless you're confusing it with transponder immobiliser wiring.

I dont really understand this wire either.
Do I have to connect it? I remember I installed one on Dodge Intrepid 2002. I didnt hook up this wire. But nothing happen, it still can be remote started.
Anybody tells me more about this wire? For example, Compustar CM5000 module, which wire is for key sense?

Few cars need it but some do. Toyota's with factory alarms need it connected to disarm. You connect it to the status output from the RS...

by the way, if RS doesnt have status output, can it be hooked to IG?

Toyotas don't need the keysense wire connected to remote start. it is just a way of disarming the factory alarm on Toyotas and Lexus. what i usually do is just use the Factory Disarm wire and send a pulse to the Unlock Wire to disarm it before remote start. that way i don't have to run a wire to the keysense wire.
Yes, you can use the negative ignition output to the keysense wire.

The issue with doing it this way is the drivers door is unlocked during remote start....
