I am going to be installing a 4 channel amp into a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport and i was wondering if i am going to have to bypass the factory amp inorder to use the speaker wires from behind the radio to connect to the amp.  Also if there is anything else i should know about this car please let me know if you have any pointers. thanks.

You could do that, but where is your new amp going?  If it's going in the back, the factory amp is in the rear quarter.  You can get an amp bypass harness to plug into the factory speaker output harness that plugs into the factory amp, and run that directly to your amp.  It's up to you.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
