I am new to the forum. My birthday is right around the corner and im gonna be 18. I have a 1995 nissan 240sx and i have it off the road for the winter so i can work on it and drive my truck. For my birthday i want two either 12 or 15 inch subs for the trunk. I would like them to be under 100 each. I was looking at 12in Kicker CompVR's and 15 inch Audiobahn AW151T 's. But i am open to any other brand sub or model so any suggestion is welcome. I plan on powering them with a BOSS RT2500D Riot. RMS of 900W at 4 OHM's and 1500W at 2 OHM's, so 450 to each and 750 to each respectivily. I read a great review that this was a great Budget amp. Maybe this review was wrong and I am open to input as to another sub 200 dollar amp that can push tha kind of power. Also should i be looking for 2 OHM or 4 OHM subs? And should i be looking at a 1 OHM stable Amp? THanks for everyones help i really appreciate it!!

P.S is Ike Sound a good place to order from? and is there another cheap site im missing?

step one, stop looking at audiobahn. then look for quality amps with CEA 2006 certifications. a good CEA-2006 cert. amp with 500 RMS watts will probably sound better than those amps you are looking for with 2000ish watts. its really alot of preference, and it is hard telling you what to get because i dont know if you want to set off car alarms when you pass, and get all the kids looking at your car as it rattles apart driving down the road, or if you want a good quality sound replication. just keep lookin around.

Good quality sound replication is more towards what i am looking at, but turning it up alittle everyonce in awhile to impress the ladies wouldn't hurt either. would two 12 in CompVR's be good for the money im looking to spend and the kind of bass im looking to create? I mean i don't even listen to rap, alittle every once in a while, a good CD of mine will contain about 2 rap songs, so its not like i go around "thumping" everywhere. Ikesounds has a refurbished Orion 6002 in my price range.  Which is 600 at 4 ohms, so 300 to each sub, is that enough? especially since eventually i could get another and run 600 to each, or since that is over their RMS 1200 divided by another 12 which im sure i could get eventually.

https://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2169 they actually have a refurbished 8002 for the same price, and 400 to each sub at 4 ohms is almost perfect and im my price range. What do you guys feel about refurbished? anyone ever bough refurbished from Ikesound? Thanks for your help

I dont know much about orion, but if you dont listen to ram, a REAL RMS of 800 will be huge. i do listen to some rap, and i have a 600RMS amp that is more than ample for me. it is heard outside of the vehicle, and will set off car alarms, but its really up to you. comp VRs are alright subs from what i have heard even though i am not a big kicker they are rated at 400RMS watts, so 600 would be a good match for them...
if sound quality is a priority you might want to up the range to 200 a sub, and only run one sub. you will loose some power, but if you could get a better sub, that can handle more power, it would equal out for the most part.
can someone else tell this guy how orion is, i wish i knew as well.

Alright what about 2 alpine Type Rs 2 OHMS hooked up to a Orion 8002 running mono 800watts RMS at 4 OHMS? So 400 watts to each Type R, if the subs are dual voice coil 2 ohms, than it can run at 4 ohms right? and a dual 4 can run at 2 or 8?

yes you can run a single dual 2 ohm at 1 or 4, a single dual 4 ohm at 2 or 8....
however when you run dual 2 ohm subs, you will run 2 ohms, and if you run dual 4 ohm subs you will run it at 1 or 4 ohms. if you have the choice go with dual 2 ohm subs. odds are the amp you get will run at 2 ohms. miiight be able to run at one. but if not you will be forced to run the system at 4 ohms if you get 2 dual 4 ohm subs. Type R's are pretty good i think most people would say. especially for your price range they look like a good choice

Alright thanks, it looks like im going to get two Alpine SWR-1222D 12" Type-R Series Subwoofer (2ohm + 2ohm) from etronics.com. And now all i need are some amp suggestions. I was thinking the Orion 8002, but it says 400 x 2 at 2 OHMS, or 800 x 1 at 4 ohms. So i would want to run it 400 to each sub seperately? It can't be bridged at 2 ohms? It doesn't matter either way. Any other options for a sub 200 dollar amp? what about a hi fonics? or audiobahn? Thanks

get a mono amp. preferably a class D mono amp. simpler, and probably more adjustable for subwoofer frequencies. audiobahn is junk. i believe hi fonics is alright.
