 Hi,

Does anybody know what type of door lock is used in Ford Focus 2001? I'm installing alarm system and diagram shows few examples how to connect door lock - one for 5 wire motor, one for 2 wire motor, one for some vacuum system and one for 2 wire motor with another 2 wire electric switch. So I'm a bit confused.. How to find out which one is the right one for my car? Thanks for help :)

OK, I understand it's negative. but is it only two wires to connect? Some wiring diagrams says - power lock and power unlock and some also shows motor lock and motor unlock.. And my alarm system has 6 wires for door lock - 3 for unlock and 3 for lock. So, it's quite a puzzle.. :(

I've tried to search for manual online, but found only this version in russian: http://www.autoelectric.ru/autoalarm/eaglemaster/lt5200/lt5200.htm

I'll take my copy from home, scan it and put it here tomorrow.

It's low current Neg look for a GEM (control box) above passenger right foot and behind glove box.  A series ( 2 or 5 depending on model at base) the far right has ORANGE / black or BLACK/ orange lock the next one in has BLACK/ green or GREEN/ black unlock, the indicators blue and blue/red are also there. I've done gazzxillions of them! Just ask. (Nicely and deending on my mood) N.B. There was a 2001 spec  change, pre-2001 has those indicator wires at the haz switch, post 2001 has them at the GEM box, also front indicators are in headlight unit on post 2001. When you do the door contacts, use diagramme 1076 on this site. Don't use the dome light.

Thanks a lot howie | | :) I've also heard that almost all wires - like for door and trunk triggers, turn lights maybe except door locks is possible to find behind the fuse box in the drivers side, in some blue 15 wire connector. Is it true?
As I understand, it's only two wires that needs to be connected for door lock - for lock and unlock?

And one more question - Do I need a relay to connect trunk release to alarm system?

 thanks for help again :)

It's quicker to go to the GEM box, on a Mk l/1a Focus.   2005 onwards the fuse box and GEM unit are combined, trunk release is a low current neg BLACK / YELLOW at the switch.  Door contacts can be found in the floor looms, and in some cases at the GEM box but by the time you a)test them out and b) discover that same colour wires are used for multiple functions, it's easier to go straight to the switches in the door shuts . Example on R/hand drives the trunk contact is BLACK/ blue at left hand floor loom but by the kickpanel it becomes yellow/black.  Do you have 6 wire or 2 wire on your alarm which is?i.e. what make is it?
