Hey guys, I'm new to the forums, and basically I'm looking for a little experienced guidance asap.My vehicle was the target of vandals who stole my rims and tires while my car was parked right in front of my house. I have a factory alarm installed on my car which didn't sound, and I didn't hear anything. The theives took my rims(20's), and relatively new tires, now I'm out the $500 deductible. I'm looking to get a 2-way alarm installed possibly the Avital 5303L with remote start which on my vehicle requires a bypass, I was quoted a price of $450 installed out the door, and I'm not up on car alarm prices and their installations, but does this quoted price sound about right to you guys, or am I being taken for a ride???????? Please Help....!!!!!!

For the price question, it really depends on what kind of car.
Whatever alarm you get, generally it will trigger if a car door is opened, and there's a shock sensor that detects heavy impacts.
If you're worried about your wheels, consider a tilt sensor. The alarm triggers if the car is raised for either towing or removing the wheels.

REALLY?!?!?! That's awesome you can get that price without alarm! Is there not a lot of competition in your area?
$450-$499 sounds about right for that system with a bypass module, keyless, etc. But as the others stated the vehicle it's going in plays a major role in pricing.

there is some competition here but i dono people pay it   we do alot of brand new cars and i think people just roll it into the loans
one benefit of being a mechanic/installer at a new car dealership
if we do an alarm/start combo its $599 bypass included
the only downfall for me anyway is i get paid 2 hrs no matter if its a car ive done before or not or it it takes me 4 hrs to do
