i have the astrostart 1000 series in a truck i just bought but when i go to start my truck i hit the botton and all th elights go on and the dash lights but then everythnig just shuts back off. and answers to why that does that?

check the on/off switch on the bottom of the dash make sure its on

ya thats on but i have also tryed it while it was off to and it does nothing.

check the hood pin and make sure it not broken if its broke or not adjusted right, if making contact it will give a signal that the hood is open and will cancel the start to see unplug the wire and try it
the switch has to be on to remote start
also make sure the wires on the back of the switch are not broke

well i kno my hood is not adjusted right cuz it takes a few times fro the hood to pop so ill check that ou and see what it does. thanks for all the advise

think i found the installation manual for this starter if you tell me how many flashes the led one the brain under the dash i might be able to tell you the problem better
that is after a failed start and before the brake is pushed
if the brake is pushed it will clear the codes

yes after you push the start button and it fails to start count the flashes of the led on the unit under the dash

You are hoping for 5 flashes (hood pin problem)

The hood pin on these units is magnetic (total crap) You can replace it, but the unit requires some programming changes.

There is NO clearing of codes.... if there is a no start situation, the problem must be fixed before it will start!

i hit the start button but then it flashes way to fast for me to count them???
