Im planning on installing a alarm r/s on 2002 vw jetta. I was looking at the idatalink module but i noticed that i have to loose a key. Went to the vw dealer and it was 150 for a just key not even a key fob. Now that on top of the alarm and module its over my price range. My question is there a module out there for this car where i wont lose a key? Or need 2 to program cause i only have one. Any input appreciated Thanks

A key-in-a-box module is the only option I am aware of. If it is your car and you are installing a full security system, you could go get a standard key cut (eBay has them for $9.00). Then put the original key in a bypass, activated by the ignition. It would completely disable the factory installed immobilizer, but you should be adding a starter kill circuit with your installation anyway.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

Ohh I get it!!! Dont need it to be programmed cause the key in a box is bypassing the immobilizer. Thanks for the Tip Twelvolts!

I am currently planning on installing an alarm r/s on a jetta 2002. Here is my question it tells me to use the door trigger for the dome light supervision. I am not to sure on how to do this so i rather ask then screw something up. Do i need a relay? The alarm is an auto page r/s 730. Any help would help me out alot thanks guys.

It doesn't need dome light supervision, the dome light comes on when the door is unlocked. If you must have dome light, use the blue/grey or sometimes blue/white going from the comfort control adjacent to the steering wheel. This is the actual door trigger wire to use as well. It goes straight to the dome light.

At the same place (comfort control box) you will also find the hood switch wire BROWN / red and trunk switch thinner of two BROWN / black wires. They will need to be diode blocked, see DEI tech 1076, it's in the down load section here. Also coming from this box is the trunk release, it's neg switched and I think it's BROWN / yellow from memory.

Ok so i installed an autopage r/s 730 on a jetta 2002 with an idatalink solo module. My problem is that when i try to remote start it wont let me because it shows hood open when its not. Ive checked the hood trigger wire and it is not showing ground. I reset the autopage and i keep getting the samething. So i tried finding the factory hood pin and i cant. One of my questions is by me using the can h and the can l wires can that be triggering the hood? Even though i already un spliced the hood trigger from the alarm? Can i have a bad brain? Any tips would be great thanks

Disconnect the hood trigger wire from the Autopage. If it still shows open hood and refuses to start then the problem is in the Autopage. Are you sharing that hood wire with anything else?

Already took that wire off and it still shows the hood open i have no idea how because there is no wire tied into that trigger wire.
