i am getting confused about BLACK/ white wire(ignition 1 some say it is) and BLACK / YELLOW wire(Ignition 1 some say it is too) and my car BLACK/ white wire looks more like gray/white. Is their a way of testing them. I only know yellow/black powers dashboard like you would turn the key into on position.

Test the vehicles ignition wires with a Digital Multi Meter.  Below is a guide for

wire identification.

Battery  +12V Constant:

Verification: This wire will register ( + ) voltage in all positions of the ignition
switch.

Ignition:

Verification: This wire registers voltage when the key is turned to the ON (or
RUN) position. The voltage does not drop out when the key is turned to the
START (or CRANK) position.

Starter:

Verification: This wire registers voltage only when the key is turned to the
START position.

Accessory Wire:

Verification: This wire registers voltage when the key is turned to ACC
(Accessory) and the ON (or RUN) position. The voltage drops out when the
key is turned to the START (or CRANK) position.

Here is a link to the Viper 5701 Install guide :  https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=710

There are many things that need to be done for a successful install.  You will need it for setting the Program Options and the Tach Learn process, etc.

The 5701 comes with the Manual Transmission mode as the default setting in menu 3. Follow the guide to change it to automatic and then program your tach, run time etc. and you'll be fine
