Hi experts,

First of all, Hi all!!!! I am from Spain and I want to buy a car alarm 2way without remote starter.

I read and read and... there are lot of and lot of brands of alarms... I don´t know which alarm buy; my principal requirement is the best range for recieve alerts in the LCD control remote; I live in a 7th and I want receive the alert, is it possible? Which alarm do you recommend me?

I see there alarms and I think that there are the best brands:

- viper

- python

- avital

What about this car alarm system? Anyone knows the functionality and the range? Anyone has another alarm with good range?

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

I am a big fan of Compustar. The DEI modules (Viper, Python, Avital) have seemed to have lost some of their quality control and I have had some issues with them. I also like the easy upgrade-ability of the Compustar systems. The remote / antenna kits can be swapped out for whatever serves you better without having to re-install the entire unit. They also make byassing a lot easier with the Blade modules from iDatalink. Compustar's also have some of the best range out there.

hehehe, ok, another brand new for me...

Have you got one of them? What about their range? Is it ok? Could arrive to the 7th floor?

There are hundreds if not thousands of factors that can affect the range so there is no way for me to tell you for sure that it will reach. However, being on a higher floor, it will have a 'birds eye view' so to speak to prevent ground objects from blocking the signal. However, there are still plenty more factors. Compustar does have a mile range remote with LCD. I used to have a Python 991 (top end) and had nothing but issues with it. I've since yanked that out and installed a Compustar CM6000 with the Slice remote and I don't think I'll ever go back. The expandability of the Compustar is awesome. The only issue is that Compustar units are very hard to come by for sale without professional installation due to warranty issues.

ok, thanks for the info but... as you say in the last phrase.

I am from Spain and I can not find the Compuster units, neither ebay; only appear the remote control...

I will continue looking for them.

Except DEI brands are sold in Spain but nought else bar some local Italian rubbish with about 50 ft. range.
A Viper 3303 would be the best bet if you could get it to work properly.
Great 2 way remote....when it works.
The people who used to market the DEI brands in the UK now market Code, Idatalink, Fortin and some Firstech kit but no Comp.
In answer to my pushing, they are actively looking at bringing them over. Supposedly.
Last thought, excuse the rambling, it's now 6:00 pm here and I was at my first job at 7:30 am so I'm cream crackered.
They don't allow 900mhz in Europe, 413.3mhz is the official Euro frequency.
