the website is available to authorized DEI dealers...are you an authorized dealer???

one of the reasons that DEI's products cost more (dealer and retail) is because of the great tech support offered to it's authorized dealer network..... it would be quite sleazy of a dealer to give you his personal access code to their tech support website if you are only selling cheaper products like Audiovox.... it's why we pay more as DEI dealers and why we charge more to customers....

if you want the great tech support offered to DEI'd dealers, why dont you look into becoming one???  it's a great product... sure it costs a little more, but you know why.. or you wouldnt be looking to mooch onto their tech support site

well, it never use to be a big deal. everyone and their mother knew the 122t code. and smaller shops like myself who cant afford to become an authorized dealer are forced to buy product from a distributor, so even tho i buy dei product and sell it, DEI wont offer their tech support because im not an "authorized dealer" which is BS. and personally between audiovox and dei they both serve the purpose.

if its been said more then once..."an alarm is only as good as the install"
i have heard good and and bad ref the dei tesh support as well as the product line. all brands are pretty much the same. they all serve the same purpose. we all are here to make a buck and push what ever product line we use. there are free sites out there get info from or sites like this.....
as one famous person once said "Can't we all just get along?"

The other part to this is that if DEI notices too many users using the password they will change it and some one will get into trouble by their boss. I will post any info from there databse if needed but I will not give out any of the password I have for their site. Also as draasch pointed out, it is more the installer then the info, and there has been many instances that their info has been incorrect. Personally I don't even use wiring diagram's anymore, I just test for wires the old fashioned way, with my meter.

ive been installing for over 11 years. i dont swear by any information im givin, but its always good to have some type of refrences on vehicles your working on. and usually its better if you have more than one source of info. and when you start doing things like making power sliding doors and rear gates lift on chrysler minivans, how are you possible going to "test" for wires like that without some type of information at hand? cars are not as simple as they were 10 years ago. we all know that. i just think its BS that DEI will sell there products to a distributor, who in turn pass the product on to samller shops like myself, and then they wont offer us tech support. thats like selling a product with the "tail light warranty" once its out of sight, your on your own.

you're absolutely right  mxxmikexx if you are buying from distributor who themselves are properly buying from DEI then you should be entitled to the exact same tech support as the big stores do. I would be confronting my distributor or contacting DEI directly to address the issue.

I cant believe for a minute that if you could prove to DEI that you are buying from an Authorized distributor that they wouldnt give you access to their system....of course there would probably be a stipulation that its based on the quantity you buy from that distributor... i mean you have to buy more than one or two pieces a season....

but you certainly have a valid point... i myself run a "smaller" shop i get wiring info from 3 separate sources, two of which i pay an annual fee to have access to....if you can simply verify a wire with a meter instead of having to track each wire down and figure things out yourself it does indeed save you potentially hours a job...which turns into dollars... hundreds of dollars in most cases of saved shop time....
