I am installing a crimestopper remote start/alarm on a 1997 camaro.  I hooked up all of the wires and got the correct resistance to match my key resistance on my crimestopper bypass.  Upon attempting a start, the motor wouldn't crank until the last split second of the attempt, and then quickly shut down.  All of my dip pins were in the correct place and I even tried a longer cranking time (1.25) but still the same result.  Any suggestions.

How is the ground for the system ? Is it a solid ground to a place that has no paint or dirt/grease ? If the ground is not good the systems will not engage the starter. Check this out and post your results.

The cars battery decided to go out on me so that is what the problem is.  Now I have another problem.  I am using the crimestopper CS-GMAII for the bypass the alarm/remote start is a cs-2006 fm1.  It attempts all 3 times just like it should but no start.  I switched the dip pins from .8 sec. to 1.25 sec. of start time and that didn't work.  To anser the above reply my ground is a solid good ground.  I sanded down the metal thoroughly before making the connection.  Any suggestions?  Thanks for your time.

I have it hooked up to the orange anti grind/starter kill wire off of my alarm unit.

Do you have a wire on the R S unit that gives a ground when remotely started?  Brian

Yes, that is my orange wire I mentioned above.  It is the negative starter kill/ anti grind output, which grounds during remote start and while the system is armed.  That orange wire is ran to the wire on my bypass that requires the ground while remote starting.  Sorry for not making that more clear.

Do you arm the system prior to the attempts at remote starting the car ? I ask because the ORANGE wire you speak of is not the same as a ground out when running wire. The GOWR wire has a (-) current only when the RS is activated and after the sequence is finished, there is 0 current in this wire. The ORANGE wire you speaker of is a starter disable wire for the starter disable circuit that has a (-) current only when armed. This is just a guess, but check this out and see if this is your problem.

If the alarm is armed or not it still doesn't start.  I hooked up a volt meter to the orange wire, hot side to a 12 volt constant and ground to the orange wire.  It grounds out during remote start and while the alarm is armed.  The instruction manual said that this wire is made for anti theft bypass modules.  My tach wire is hooked up at the 10 pin blue connector located at the passenger side kick panel.  The tach wire is white.

I hear that in some G.M. and Toyota vehicles may have more than one ignition or accessory circut that requires power for the vehicle to start.  Does anybody know if my car needs one of these.(1997 camaro)
