Guys.
I have older Ungo Alarm (pretty basic alarm) and a Clifford Intellistart that I want to install it in my 2000 Expedition. I have also taken the liberty of buying a DEI 555W for the PATS. I have a few questions though. Would all this be okay or am I missing something here? Also, is there going to be an issue with the GEM? Where is the GEM on this car?
Opinions? Suggestions? Recommendations? Comments?
Thanks!

What do you mean by "is there going to be an issue with the GEM"? That truck is very straight forward, the only note DEI lists pertains to the door trigger:
FORD, EXPEDITION, 2000, Door Trigger
The keyless module is located high in the drivers kick against the firewall.
One of two. The wire is in pin 11 and it is next to the BLACK/ pink wire. Test with a digital multi-meter ONLY, to keep from damaging the circuit tied into the other lt. blue/white.
With what you have listed (assuming you meant it is a 555F or 555P) it appears you have everything you would need. The GEM is on the firewall, driver's side. Easy to find in that truck.
I know you are trying to keep costs down, but I would consider picking up some newer pieces. The technology in alarms/starters keeps improving as time moves on and it may be worth it to spend an extra $100 to pick up a new system with new harnesses, remote start built in, etc.

Twelvoltz-
Thanks for the reply. I guess I wasn't totally clear. What I meant to say was that I am concerned the alarm and remote start won't work with my Expy.
The expy has the factory keyless entry as well as the keypad on the door. I have installed probably about a dozen alarrm/remote starts before (on more basic cars) and this is my first car that I have to worry about VSM's, GEM's and other stuff like that.
Other than the basic hookups (pwr., ign., acc.) how are my other hookups going to go?

Oh, and also it has the 2-stage lock from the remote.

There should be no reason what you currently have could not work with your truck.
Your factory keyless and alarm will still continue to function with the aftermarket stuff added in. But it will not control the aftermarket alarm or starter if you chose to install what you currently have.
You will have to interface with the factory alarm disarm wire to prevent the factory content alarm from going off.
The "GEM" is just a "generic electronics module". Vehicles have had some type of computer that controls body electronics for some time now, nothing really different, just Ford calls yours a GEM.
Fairly simple truck in my opinion, I just recommend picking up some new equipment to help prevent false alarms and to make your job of installing easier. I hated working with the old Avital/Clifford stuff (before they were bought by DEI) when I was in the business. The alarm brain was huge, then you add in the remote start add on and it was almost impossible to make the job neat. Too much of a hassle for me now (but then again I am getting old).
If you want to retain the 2 stage unlock your system has to offer a second unlock output, and you would have to 5-wire the drivers door lock actuator unlock leg with the first output and take the second unlock output to the factory relay trigger for all doors.

Gotcha! So if I dont care to keep the 2 stage unlock, I would just use the Pink / YELLOW, Pink/Green wires and connect them up to my (-) alarm trigger, right?
Would I need relays to drive these or is the (-) from the alarm trigger enough?
According to this diagram, it seems like a straight forward install. Is this diagram accurate for my car that has the keyless entry and the door keypad?

The wiring information listed in that Commando link looks correct, although I can not recall any Expedition I have done needing a factory alarm disarm. I did not think any of them came with factory alarms.
Yes, you can use the transistorized negative outputs from your alarm to drive the lock and unlock wires in that truck. The wires you are tapping into control factory relays.

Thanks!
Is the wiring color chart on the 555 unit correct for this car too?
YLW/BLK- Immobilizer tap (pin 3 usually gray/org or blk)
BROWN- Immobilizer sync tap (pin 4 usually wht/grn or org)
PINK- Ign Car side (cut- usually blk/wht or blue)***
PINK/WHT- Ign. Key side (Cut- usually blk/wht or blue)***
***Note: On some Fords, pin 1 and 2 are reversed.
Are all these connections on the VSM? Do I cut those last 2 wires? Are the others just tapped onto wire? Are the color correct or are the car wires a different color?

Which 555 module is it? The letter at the end designates a lot of information about the unit.
DEI is not listing the 555P in their manuals section and I believe this may be the piece you have. I have not used the 555P, however the bypasskit.com part I normally use for that vehicle (PKF1) does not require cutting any wires in the vehicle. It just needs constant hot, status input, ground, and 2 data wire connections. The data wire connections are made in the ignition harness to the wires running up to the PATS module at the key cylinder.

So the DEI part that I have is the DEI 555PW seen here: http://www.electronicexpress.com/product?prod_id=9021
I bought it elsewhere though.
This is what the diagram shows:
YLW/BLK- Immobilizer tap (pin 3 usually gray/org or blk)
BROWN- Immobilizer sync tap (pin 4 usually wht/grn or org)
PINK- Ign Car side (Cut- usually blk/wht or blue)***
PINK/WHT- Ign. Key side (Cut- usually blk/wht or blue)***
***Note: On some Fords, pin 1 and 2 are reversed.
So for the first 2 wires (YLW/BLK and BROWN) do I just tap onto these wires going to the ign.? Are the colors in the diagram above the correct colors for my car? How do I test these to make sure they are?
The last 2 wires (PINK, PINK/WHT) do I cut the factory ign wire as it states and connect to the unit?
