compustar p2w900fmas keyfob issues

I recently got a Compustar p2w900fmas installed, and am experiencing a strange issue. When still close to the car (i.e. within 100 ft or so), my 'Query' button no longer works. I push it , but it isn't receiving any data, like it's out of range. However, if I send a lock/unlock command, I will get confirmation that it went through, and after doing this, my query button will work The shop didn't think anything was wrong, but the manual specifically states that if you want to see if you are still in range, use the Query button. Does anyone know what's going on? Thanks!

Tell them to swap your remote. It should work without having to unlock or lock.
