Soundnsecurity is absolutely right, there are many older cars without hood pins and that's why they provide you with one. If there's a factory pin, hood, doors trunk, use it.

For reliability reasons, I too vote for the OEM switch.

You should diode isolate the connection if using the factory hood pin.

I've only worked on a couple of RSX's, but I don't think any of them had a factory alarm. It might be an option, a dealer accessory, or only available in other countries.
Hopefully you've already planned to disassemble the car, find the wires, and test those wires before you bench-prep the alarm.
I would do one or both of the following:
1. Open car window, close hatch, hood, doors, lock doors with OEM remote. Wait at least 1 minute, then reach in through window and open hood. Does anything happen?
2. Find the wire listed on the tech sheet, and test if it indeed does turn to a ground when the hood is open.

I got pkall programmed and my car starts fine with key. However I can't remember the steps to remote start the car on a manual transmission.
It's a viper 5704.

do any ignition lights come on as if its attempting to try to remote start? do you get  a number of parking light flashes to indicate a potential reason for the failed start,is the safety toggle switch plugged in and switched to on, has tach been learned before attempting to remote start, has neutral safety wire been connected to parking brake. can reservation mode be set ok when doing exit procedure before leaving and arming vehicle?

quite a few things that could potentially cause issues and prevent a remote start
