How do you all insulated wires when you solder them in mid harness? I would seem that tape is the only way. I'm not a huge fan of tape but is there another option?

Can't heat shrink a t type connetion unless you cut the wire. Good electrical tape works just fine, I install in AZ where it is well over 100 for more then the summer and tape works fine.

I usually just cut the wire that I"m tapping into and solder all three ends together (the cut wire and the wire to splice with). Then just heat shrink. It may not be the best way, but I've never had a problem with it.

That is a great idea! Odd how sometimes your brain doesn't think of the simplest things.

Now what type of heat shrink do you guys use? Where I work we use a lot of different types. My favorite is a black dual wall, high temp heat shrink. Stuff sets like a rock. Not sure if auto wires can take the heat to shrink it though.

I didn't know that there was different kinds, but it makes sence for different applications. I just buy the stuff they sell at Home Depot or Lowes in the electrical dept. It just shrinks down with a heat gun (not sure of the temp at which it will shrink as mine doesn't adjust) or a lighter.

3m 33+ is the best tape I have used so far.
