After reading all this, I think I'm in the same boat as far as OEM security systems.  I have a 02 Astro that has OEM keyless entry that I am about to install a RS system and was assuming I needed a 555L because my Chevy owner's manual says the vehicle has the "Passlock" theft deterrent system. I was suspicious of this because the keys have no appearance of having a chip, although they could have something in the plastic part.  Is there a surefire method  to determine what, if any, system the vehicle has?  How would I be able to get a diagram as in the previous post, to find out for sure?   Thanks,  Joe

Your van DOES have PASS 2   It's in the Ign. Cylinder.
I use OMEGA DB-PLDATA  simple to install and hooks in to DATA wire

Does that mean the key has a resistor in the plastic part and by data wire, do you mean at the ECU in the driver's kick panel where the OEM KL hooks up?  Thanks,  Joe

NO your key has nothing in it
The Pass 2 system uses a Hall Effect Sensor that sends the resistance code to the Passlock Module when the key is turned
