I've also played with subbing files on the dvd.. and got it updating only one firmware instead of 2.. but busy these few days.. will have to mess with it more later on..

If someone here would like to PTP me the ISO's for the latest N2 software disk's I have a 2 meg upload speed on my cable line and wouldn't mind creating a Torrent for the files and seeding them indefinately...

I never registered my avic n1 when I got it about a year ago. Is it too late to now and can I still get the free update DVD's so I can try messing around with this stuff. Im a computer science major and think I could figure somethings out. Also is there any other way to get the Serial number from the avic n1 other than off the bottom of the unit. Is it hidden in a menu somewhere because I dont feel like removing it right now to get that when I register it.
Thanks

ARRRRGGGHHH!  I hate Internet Exploder! It keeps erasing my post whenever it blocks a popup on this page!!!! (adding a smiley or previewing the post)

You can find your Serial Number on your original retail packaging (The BOX) fearx24.

Good luck with software modding.

hey guys, sooooo new to this stuff, didnt even know you can mod these things....first off i got an AVIC-N!

i got a simple question and i am sure someone can help me with this, u guys seem like geniuses!  hahaha...

i am trying to make a dvd of MUSIC VIDEOS that i downloaded from LIMEWIRE, they are just video files...

i burn them to a DVD and when i put it in my avic-n1, it doesnt read the DVD but when i play it at home in my DVD player, it works, and the main screen is basically just a list of the dvd's like files.....

i used NERO EXPRESS to burn the dvd and if i remember correctly i used the "burn files to DVD" and it obviously wasnt accepted on my avic.....so what am i supposed to do?  any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your DVD at home might read just video files on a DVD. Did you make sure to burn the DVD like it was a movie with menus and stuff to select the videos you want. It should work because I burn DVD's all the time that play in my avic-n1.

Just called Pioneer and they're sending me the new DVD's for the AVIC-N2. Once I get them home I will make ISO's and post a torrent. Let you guys know when it's up...

ok i replaced all files except what appears to be the os... and it worked, it recognizes the map data...however when you input a new destination, it returns to the map screen.  I read somewhere to disable the dvd vid feature, one file has to be removed from the dvd.

also has anyone verified that the d1 fix doesn't work for the n1, or that the n1 has the same circuitry as the n2 ?
