So after my long search of finding a local reliable shop I finally found one, and they offered me a job. One afternon, a fellow comes in bragging about his system and what it would be capable of if he had a "VT Box". We asked him some leading questions to see what exactly he was wanting to achieve, and he said "180 db's, I's only getting 120". He then showed us his equipment, a Sony amp that was about 1/2 the size of his trunk lid and two RF P1 12"s. He got a very serious look on his face and said "a buddy of mine is hittin' 300 with his pyramid 12"s, and I want to hang w/ him". Needless to say I politely told him about the possible ramifications of 300 db inside his car. The owner/head installer told him that it is just not possible, he got very offended and left in a huge hurry. That made my day, anyone else have similar stories?

I get alot of strange warranties. I had a guy claim that after I installed a R/S His car now makes a grinding noise when he makes right turns. I drove it and it was fine, then he went for a ride with me, and it was still fine. I pulled ovewr and let him drive, and sure enough, it made a grinding noise. After a couple of minutes of trouble shooting, we discovered that it wasn't his car making noise, it was scar tissue rubbing against shrappnel in his shoulder that he aquired in viet nam. My warranty doesn't cover that tho.

One time I was taking off a dash in a car and half a pound of weed fell out of it. I gave it back to the owner, and he quickly blamed it on his wife. I don't care if a guy smokes pot, but what kind of man is gonna sell out his own wife?

Northstart.....or start it your damn self.

I had a customer once who came into my store almost every day. One Saturday he and a friend of his come into the store wearing matching tuxsedos. I asked him if he was going to a wedding and he said he had just came from one and was on his way to the reception. I asked him who's wedding it was and he said it was HIS! He said his new wife knew how much he was into car stereo and she would understand. I wonder how long that marrage lasted?

Old lady brings her buick back after we do a radio install. She says there is a weird noise that comes from the speakers.
Me: "Does it sound like crackleing?"
Old Lady: "No it's more like voices."
Me: "Hmm.."
Old Lady: "Even when the radio is off I hear someone speaking."

My favorite one is a loose wire. Everything is a loose wire. For instance here are some that i heard. "My amp cuts out after i turn the volume up, I think its a loose wire". "The display on my radio goes in and out i think its a loose wire". "My cd player skips, I think its a loose wire."  Everything is a loose wire. Boy do I wish.

My brother inlaw is a awsome mechanic in florida. One day he had a customer come in with a car that would occasionaly run like crap (no power and seem like it was missing) he goes to take it for a test drive and stereo almost busts an ear drum.. 1st thing he does is turn off the stereo (4 15's and about 2k watts) he finds no problem.. dude comes back the next day with the same problem. this time brother inlaw rides with the guy. dude cranks the stereo and low and behold the car runs like crap but only with the system cranked...  The problem was a knock sensor in the engine was sensing the bass in the stereo and retarding the ignition...

Funny stuff!

Shorted or grounded out wire is right up there with loose wire.
