After installing a remote starter in my 1995 Cherokee, the brake/shift interlock does not work. I had the dealer install it in June(as it was a recall from 97 and the previous owner never had it added), so it was infact working (you had to step on the brake to shift out of park)

Well after hooking up the remote starter today, that feature is missing. The only thing I messed with, which had to do with the brake, were the brake wires.....I connected both of the grey wires from the brake switch to the brake input on the remote starter....
Any ideas on what I did to disable the brake/shift interlock? Thanks!
By the way, the remote starter is a Micro STARTNR2.

Another question - I am using the tach sense for the remote starter.  I hooked it up to the correct wire, and programmed it so it knows what RPM the engine runs at when idling.  When the vehicle starts, the starter engauges for a minute and then turns off.  That is severly bad for the starter, and I want to know how I can get the remote starter to disengauge the starter the minute the vehicle actually starts.  Any idea on that too?

you connected both brake wires to the same wire?
If you say "I already know how", don't ask me a single question.

Well, there are 2 brown wires (with a stripe, I forget what color;) and they go into the same input on the plug.....so in reality they are the same wire.

Install a diode inline with the Brake wire coming from the remote start. I have seen this a couple times before. The alarm bleeds enough voltage through to disable the shift lock. It really doesn't do anything as you still can't shift without the key in the ignition.

Ok, put in a diode today......brake shift interlock still does not work.  Even with the brake plug disconnected, the interlock does not exist.  What else could be wrong?  If it is completely unplugged, the interlock should still be there since it would not be getting ANY brake sense at all!

Unplug the alarm brain and see if the problem still persists. That would be the next step in trouble shooting.
Do you know what exactly was involved in the recall/adding of the shift lock? Something may have come loose during the install.
