Even though it's an unpopular woofer choice, if you want the most available "bang" from that woofer, visit their site or contact them for the recommended enclosure type and size. Once you install it in a proper enclosure without over powering it, it may be fine for your taste and at the very least it should sound better than it does in the enclosure you're using now.

Good information Wirewise.

To the others; everyone has to start somewhere with car audio, and not everyone can afford $400 subs.  My first setup was of similar quality.

pretty good, 12oowatts, & the pics shows 1000.

Any sub only sounds as good as the box it is in. With that said, a crappy sub is still a crappy sub, & I have not seen pyle come out with anything above entry level since I was a teenager, & MTX was making the Terminator, Rockford had the series 1, Punch & power subs (both power & punch had the same cone), & HiFonics just blew everyones mind the the 300watt Hercules...& Pioneer just came out with the DEH-P1 LOL

Woops I didn't notice the picture said 1000 watt, my sub say's 1200 on it though. I'm a little confused to see all these people saying pyle sucks, I think it sounds good but I don't really know how good I can get it to go if I can't try it in a better box so I was gonna ask if anyone else knew.

That's why I bought it, and surprisingly it doesn't sound as bad as you'd think.

Well put it this way, it's a hell of a lot better than this old apline 200 W sub I had, it was horrible.

Well I can almost afford $400 subs but I have better things to spend my money on right now. It's a clean sounding subwoofer and I don't regret buying it, but I want to really hear what it would sound like in a bandpass box with maybe another one of them.

What are you trying to achieve by using a bandpass enclosure over another type?  Are you planning on building the enclosure yourself, or having one built by a professional?  As wirewise mentioned above, you really need a proper enclosure (as in one designed specifically for that sub) to get that sub to sound it's best.  And this is more crucial with a bandpass enclosure.

Punkguyta: I appolgiuse for my comment. It was not helpful or constructive. After all you are here asking an honest question. Wirewise is correct proper box design and construction will bring out the best that speaker has to offer.

Pyle PL1290BL Specs I found this Fs: 23.2 Vas:4.90 Qms: 4.92 Qes: .84 Qts:72 SPL: 85 dB @ 2.83V/1m

Pyle PL1090BL Specs I  found this Fs: 26.9 Vas:2.39 Qms: 5.23 Qes: .89 Qts:72 SPL: 83.5 dB @ 2.83V/1m

I put both because in the picture is the 10 but you said you have the 12. I do not have a box program handy but many here do. I could not find an optimum box on Pyles web site but manage to find these specs listed on a retailer site. hope this helps
