Josh1979 - that is a fricking AWSOME sig line! LMMFAO!!

Here's another story ... just last week I installed a new radio in this tweaky dudes Z28 - a nice car & in good shape. Easy install, right? So, I get the job done. Mr. Tweak comes back to pick up the car an hour or so later. Tweak goes out to the car. About 30 minutes later, Mr. Tweak comes back into the shop, saying that I messed up how his steering wheel turns.

"Ummmmmmm ... dude, I didn't mess w/ the steering wheel - it isn't connected to the radio, man. All the electrical connections a made directly behind the radio."

"Well, something is different now".

"No, everything about you're steering wheel is just as it's always been."

"Well, I'm just trying to figure out what happened ... I brought my car in here & the steering wheel worked. Now it doesn't. Can you at least look at it?"

"No - you're steering wheel works the way it is supposed to work. Dude, I just DROVE your car out of this shop. It works perfectly, man."

"Well - ok - but now it's different."

Tweak leaves the shop - but goes into the main store to talk to the salesman that he bought the radio from to complain.

The salesman calls me to ask "WTF is this nut talking about?"

I say  "Send that crazy tweaker back out here so I can Monkey Stomp his azz."

So, Tweak comes back out to the shop - I reluctantly go look at the car.

*Tweaker is spinning the wheel lock-to-lock* ... "See what I mean ... It didn't go this far before."

"Are you saying that I somehow changed the number of turns it takes to go from Full Left to Full Right?!!!"

"Well ... yeah ... I guess ... it never went this far before." *spinning wheel*

"The only way to change that is to have a Steering Rack from a Camaro Sport Coupe installed in place of the Z28 rack that came in your car, man. Even if I wanted to for some reason, there is no way I could go get the part & do the work in less that an hour - which is how long you left your car here, man."

*Dumbfounded Look From Tweaker* ... ummmmmm ...

"hmmm ... You don't know much about how cars work, do ya, man? That has positively NOTHING to do with your radio, dude. Your car works just as it always has. Take off, man."

Where's Darwin when ya need him? Some folks are waaaaay to stupid to drive.

how about this,  Lady comes in to buy a cd player.  Sell her the player dash kit harness etc.  Finish the car in about 45 minutes or so and she comes in gets her keys goes out to the car, then comes back in a minute later,  furious yelling and screaming because she never told us to remove her old radio,  but we did anyway.

So I had this guy show up for an alarm install and added on a prox sensor.  I asked him why he wanted it and he didn't really know.  The car was not convertable and he didn't leave the windwos down very often plus his windows were tinted with metallic tint which we all know makes prox sensors freak.I tell the guy, hey lets return that sensor and we'll use that labor to do a secondary starter kill relay.

Now this is key, I explained to the guy three times that once I was done he would need to depress the lock switch of the vehicle in order for it to start.  This is so that if a a thief was able to find the alarms starter kill and bypass it, they wouldn't find this one.  He was totally cool with it and even told me several times while he sat there watching me install it how cool it was.

Next day he comes back demanding that I remove it and add a trunk pop relay for free.  Normally I would hook up to a factory trunk popper for free but not after how this guy was yelling at my employees.  After proving the guy wrong several times and him basically telling me he is gonna shoot me, he leaves.  A few days later I get a letter from the local court stating that he filed a small claims case against the company requesting all his money be refunded plus and extra $150 in punitive damages!

Needless to say he did not win but about a week later I got a call from a guy at another store saying this guy was there complaining that because of my alarm, his windshield wiper fluid didn't come out as fast as it used to and his radio reception wasn't as good.

Wasn't from a customer, but I was talking to a friend of mine today, and he asked me about Audiobahn.
Without skipping a beat, my mind went into overdrive, and pulled "They're CRAPTASTIC" out... I had to laugh at myself...
Hadn't thought of that word in YEARS!
Craptastic! Still laughing!
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

OK well today i had a customer that i don't think i'll ever forget. Ok so he wants an amp and sub install ok fair enough i do the install no problem. run the wires they am about to hook the amp and subs up. so i do that. They my next step is to secure the box. i start to and he asks that i don't. Ok fair enough i warn him that i cut the wires to length with the intent of securing the box, and that if not secured the box will slide around and most likely either A) damage the amp terminals or B) Completely rip out the power and or ground wires. He says thats fine i'll be ok. Well he drives off about 10 minutes later he comes back saying his subs stopped working...... so i go and check and what do ya know the box slid back and the power wire got ripped out and partially damaged the amp terminal. I said well this is why i wanted to mount it for you. He says just hook it back up i don't want it mounted. Ok so i hook it up and i say it will probably happen again well 2 minutes later he comes back and the same problem except this time the remote wire snapped..... At this point he's wized and so am i with his stupidity. he wants me to make it so that the amp won't move but not by securing it down.... he starts suggesting bungee cords and velcro which we don't do at the Best Buy that i work at. I said that we always secure boxes unless the customer for some stupid reason doesn't want it that way. So then he demands to talk to management. And we call our managers and we explain the situation. and my manager said "You're mad because you wanted the box to be not secured.. and he told you that the wires would rip out, and you told him to not secure it anyways, and now you're here why?" So after a bunch of arguing the guy still refuses to let us mount it, and as of now we have him scheduled to get everything taken out, and refunded minus labor.

Refund? I would have kindly asked him to leave and never return with no refund, period. I have people request that I don't secure their equipment when I install it, I void the warranty. Its a waste of time for the shop and its unsafe. If someone doesn't trust yor professional opinion, they should have some crack head at hack shop install it.......
