Refund? I would have kindly asked him to leave and never return with no refund, period. I have people request that I don't secure their equipment when I install it, I void the warranty. Its a waste of time for the shop and its unsafe. If someone doesn't trust yor professional opinion, they should have some crack head at hack shop install it.......
Believe me a refund never even crossed my mind. That was managements decision i let them know i didn't agree with it at all.

ok this lady comes in and had a stereo installed ,

She comes back a few days later "my rear defrost isnt working "

it was a escort so I thought the plug may not have been pluged in or a wire came off so I checked it . After getting ready to pull the radio out I looked in the rear view mirror . I went back to the counter and said excuse me but your vehicle isnt equipt with a rear defrost .

she responds oh that must have been my old car that had rear defrost

well I thought to myself I guess so .

We had a customer just stop at BB and he wanted to have a stereo installed , the man was hispanic and didnt understand english very well . We explained our drop policy since all the appts. were full , we explained it quite a few times and he continued looking at us with a really confused look . Just as we were about to give up a African man walked in comes up next to the hispanic man and asked the same question about getting his stereo installed "de ja vue" then all of a sudden the hispanic man decided to help us explain the drop policy to the African man he then turned to the African man and started to explain the best he could to elp the other man . Well if that wasnt like the blind leading the blind I dont know what is . If I remember right they both ended up leaving with out a installed radio .

the man answered where is your GPS

Brandon answered pointing right in front of them right here .

The man disgusted says no GPS ! not navigation

Brandon this is it this is the GPS Navigation

the man insists this isnt it where is the GPS I need something to show where Im at not where Im going .

I guess you cant win with some customers .

I also work at best buy. Had a guy come in looking at gps/navigations and he was looking at a particular one. My salesmen sold him on it and then realized that we were out of it. It was christams time so things were a little hectic. Well the guy for some reason blew up on my salesmen. Ask to speak to a supervisor so i stepped in. Guy starts yelling/swearing at me because we were out of that one and didn't tell him till afterwards. So I say sir i'm sorry that were out. He asks what did we just sell out of them. Still screaming and swearing. I ask and the salesmen said no about a hour ago. This really got the guy going, so i said its ok we can special order one for you. He continues to yell at me about how he lives 40 miles away and doesn't want to drive back to pick it up. Confused as to why he would drive 40 miles when there are at least two best buys in every direction within 40 miles, i let him know that we can have it sent to his house so he doesn't need to drive back. I guess hearing the right thing set this guy off because he then walked out screaming love at the top of his lungs. Crazy.

these are great! i have two

a guy comes into my shop and asks how much for an amp. it was last years display model so i was going to sell it $200 under my cost. i explained why the price was so low and i told him that i would cover the year warranty.  as soon as i started to remove it from the display he speaks up about how he wants a new one not the display model.  there was anouther customer in the shop at the time that a coworker was helping.  i brought my customer to my desk and told him retail price. my customer changed his mind but during this time. my coworker had sold the display model for cash and that customer ran out the door not caring about his change or the receipt

i used to be an automotive technician at a jeep dealer.  a customer came in with his new jeep grand cherokee overland edition and complained of a rough ride.  i checked his vehicle up and down.  i asked him to take me for a drive. he did and showed me his concern. i could not get the point across to him that he had purchased a truck. i finally blew up and screamed "if you wanted a lexus you should have bought one!" he smiled and asked is this how you treat all of your jeep factory representatives. he now buys my dealership lunch whenever he comes by.

I once had a guy who came in to buy 6X9's an a set of 6 1/2's. He wanted both but didn't have the money for both sets so he just wanted to buy the 6 1/2's so I installed them. He then said after I was done, well I don't know if I like how the sound. They were a set of infinty anyway he had me take them back out.  The owner asked why did he want to hear them an we have the same one's on display in the store. To sum it up he was okay with paying for an install of 6 1/2's that he didn't even drive away with. We had a big laugh an just made him go away.

wow what a great sales and instalition team you guys must have. a guy comes in a all he wants is a set of speakers and he leaves your store unhappy. it must be nice to be able to laugh about an unhappy customer. where i work if i have a customer leave unhappy, (which is rare we bend over backwards to please our customers) all i see is a customer that will never spend money in my store again, and to me that equals a smaller pay check for every body that works in my store
bring back the rotary phone so i dont have to press 1 to proceed in english

I'm with you Josh1979. I would have seen that as a perfect opportunity to sell the customer into an amp, or better speakers, or an eq. Car audio is a luxury, and  the customer is doing you a huge favor by giving you the chance to impress them. That guy most likely went down the street and spent his money elsewhere. He also most likely told 5 of his friends about his bad experience too. Thats five people whose money isn't going into that shop.
Northstart.....or start it your damn self.

That's exactly what i was thinking. If he wasn't impressed i would have told him it'd sound tons better with an ampliflier pushing them. It's worked a few times at our store.
